Mind Body Soul Children’s Society is affiliated with Aspiring Minds Childhood Development Center, Little Princeton Daycare, and Building Brilliance Daycare. We have adopted a Non-Traditional Montessori approach to the teaching and care of young children. All of us have implanted the theories of renowned child developmental psychologists and doctors from around the world and developed their practices into an applied setting. Maria Montessori promoted the education of
children through a rich sensory environment with emphasis on life lessons and an enhancement of vocational skills. MBSCS, Aspiring Minds Development Center, Little Princeton Daycare, and Building Brilliance Daycare follow her footsteps in promoting self-discipline, self-awareness, and self-direction in our classrooms.
All of our facilities have further adopted and combined the teachings of Maria Montessori with those of the Russian child psychologist Lev Vygotsky. His theory is a socio-cultural one that states that children will excel better when there is a multidisciplinary approach. Following this theory, we present culture into the classroom through our daily schedules. We utilized Vygotsky's theory of Scaffolding and the Zone of Proximal Development as our teaching methods. This is done through the engagement of classes such as: karate, music, art, Zumba, nature, social skills building, leadership, dance, yoga, soccer, tennis, gifted & talented, cooking, fencing and many others. These classes are taught by tutors and divided into a maximum capacity of ten children per group. This allows children to grasp and retain information at accelerated pace.
The Montessori and Vygotsky approaches are all tied together with B.F. Skinner’s theories of behavior. Through his findings, we gain compliance and excellence through a positive reinforcement approach, taking away the need for any punishment procedures. The combination of these three theorists have allowed our children to thrive and excel, while loving to learn.
